DALLAS, TX. (Chrysler Financial) - Hip-Hop/R&B/ Neo-Soul star Erykah Badu, hip-hop star Paul Wall, Raz-B of B2K and Rocsi of BET's 106 & Park will join the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network (HSAN), Chairman Russell Simmons and President and CEO Dr. Benjamin Chavis for the Dallas Hip-Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment on Saturday, October 14 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The Dallas Hip-Hop Summit will take place at the University of North Texas' Main Auditorium located at 1401 West Hickory Street, Denton, Texas.

HSAN's title sponsor and partner is Chrysler Financial. The Hip-Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment's "Get Your Money Right" National Tour, now in its second successful year, brings together the powerful combination of hip- hop stars and Chrysler Financial experts to speak to students and community members about the importance of financial literacy.

The topics to be covered include the basics of banking, home ownership, repairing bad credit and understanding credit scores, entrepreneurship, vehicle financing and more. The "Get Your Money Right" national tour concludes this year on October 28, with its first international Summit taking place in Toronto, Canada.

The Hip-Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment is a grassroots effort to help engage young people in discussions about the importance of personal finance.

Russell Simmons affirmed, "The Dallas Hip-Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment will present some of the most important facts and information on how to 'Get Your Money Right.' With the proper information and a steadfast determination to take the right steps, people can get themselves out of poverty. The Hip-Hop generation seeks to improve the quality of life of all people and this will be our 58th summit in the last five and a half years where we continue to witness artists and others giving back to help raise the consciousness of the masses."

"Our current generation of young people has the opportunity to distinguish themselves from prior generations by building their path into adulthood off of a solid financial foundation," said Gerrod Parchmon - Manager, Chrysler Financial Sales and Operations and Summit Panelist. "The Dallas Hip Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment will give young people who thirst for knowledge the keys they need to successfully drive their future. Young people who attend the summit are making a statement about their commitment to taking control of their financial house."

Dr. Benjamin Chavis concluded, "Hip-Hop is about spitting truth to power and across the State of Texas and throughout America, millions of youth and young adults are eager to learn how they can speak out and take action that leads to the economic empowerment of their families and communities. It is going down at the Dallas Hip-Hop Summit by celebrating the evolution of the culture and by making a real difference in the quest for greater financial sustainability."

The "Get Your Money Right" workbook, which will be given to all participants, is available in both English and Spanish and is downloadable on the https://www.hsan.org site.

The media partner for the Dallas Hip-Hop Summit on Financial Empowerment is The Beat 97.9 FM Dallas. Community partners include the Dallas Concilo and Dallas Urban League.
