LOS ANGELES (D. Carleton-Bird) - The phrase, "wrong-way," pertaining to the methods used by Jan Davis to tune and play his guitar, has spread throughout the gay community as being directed toward their sexual preference.

According to recent articles appearing on the Internet and other media, this melee has turned into raging confusion!

"What's going on here?" says Davis, "Why can't we all just get along with our lives?"

It's been reported the first article, "Wrong-Way Guitarist Crash Lands on Internet," was apparently misunderstood by some who enjoy causing turmoil, or by gay folks who didn't read the original article, which prompted another release entitled: "Is Gay Community in Uproar over Jan Davis Guitar?" In order to clarify the term, "wrong-way," an interview was conducted where Davis spoke out on the gay issue to the best of his ability. But was the interview enough to be effective? Obviously, it was not.

A follow-up article, boldly stating: "Gay Community Bashing Jan Davis Guitar," came out in August. Meanwhile, Davis publicists were assuring him their new release should put an end to the negative controversy. Once again, they were dead wrong.

As of this writing, however, the entire issue is currently being blown out of proportion. Now gay readers are accusing Davis of calling the gay community "wrong-way people!"

Davis told reporters to quote him when he got the latest comments via email.

"I work with gay and straight musicians all the time and I'd never say such a ridiculous thing! I've lived with people calling me feminine names like "Janet" and "Janeen" my entire career and I've even been accused of going the wrong-way, but that's show biz."

So, let's put the known facts on the table, once and forever. First of all, Davis flatly denies he ever tagged the gay community with the term: "wrong-way."

"I'm the one who's been called "wrong-way Jan" just because of the way I tune a guitar, so there's no reason for anyone, gay or otherwise, to get their fur in an uproar over the term: "wrong-way," Davis responded, "I even decided to get a video shot, showing close-up views of my hands-on method of guitar playing, so people can see for themselves why guitar teachers and some others like to say I play the wrong way!"
