FRANKLIN, TN and NEW YORK, NY (Naxos of America) - On September 26th, music distributor Naxos of America of Franklin, Tennessee will release "Glenn Gould Hereafter," a documentary of the legendary pianist by Bruno Monsaingeon. "Glenn Gould Hereafter" will receive its New York premiere at Glenn Gould Unveiled, A Film Festival in New York City on October 20th, part of Lincoln Center's Great Performers series.

Produced by Idéale Audience and Rhombus Media, "Glenn Gould Hereafter" is a retrospective of the life and work of Glenn Gould that synthesizes an incredible wealth of archival material, some of it previously unreleased. Made as if narrated by Gould himself, the film is a fantastic window on the world of one of music's true geniuses. The DVD includes a 20-page booklet with an authoritative essay, biographies, and photos.

Director Bruno Monsaingeon, himself a friend of Gould's who directed the 1974 film "Glenn Gould: The Alchemist," eschewed traditional documentary form in "Glenn Gould Hereafter," saying instead that he "had to invent a new genre. By opting for a treatment of the subject that was partly fictional, yet founded on a synthesis of all the musical, literary and philosophical material available on Gould, I was convinced I would be able to capture the reality of the genius who made such a mark on my existence and that of a host of listeners throughout the world."

In addition to producing "Glenn Gould Hereafter," French label Idéale Audience also produces the Juxtapositions series of documentaries on contemporary composers. Films on Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass, and Luciano Berio are among the many excellent Juxtapositions DVDs.

"Glenn Gould Hereafter" is distributed in the United States by Naxos of America, the leader in independent distribution of classical music in the United States. Naxos of America has two offices: a central headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee and a publicity office in New York City. Naxos of America is owned by the North American Classical Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Naxos Global Distribution.
