NASHVILLE, TN. (Jo Dee Messina Official Website) - Country sensation Jo Dee Messina took time out on Sunday to give back to the Special Olympic athletes in Van Wert, Ohio. Jo Dee was in town to perform at the Van Wert County Fair and kicked off her visit that morning at Smiley Park for a surprise pick-up softball game with her band, crew, and area Special Olympic athletes. Jo Dee has long been involved with helping out the Special Olympics believing that their program is vital and trying to recruit volunteers. The softball game was another way for Jo Dee to give back to something that means so much to her. As it turned out, the athletes gave Jo Dee and her band and crew a run for their money. No score was kept but everyone walked away winners. 'The Special Olympics is an incredible program,' said Jo Dee. 'Everyone involved is so passionate about what they do, especially the athletes who really give 110%. No one does it for the money or even for recognition. They do it because it truly makes a difference in their lives. I am proud to be a part of that and to do what I can for the Special Olympics.' Before Jo Dee left to go get ready to perform that night at the Van Wert Count Fair she made sure to sign autographs and softballs and pose for pictures with athletes and fans. There were roughly 125 fans around to support Jo Dee at the park and each one of them felt her passion for the Special Olympic athletes. Jo Dee recently released her latest single 'Too Late To Worry' from her No 1 album Delicious Surprise which is climbing the country charts. She is currently on tour in support of the album across the country. For more Jo Dee news, tour dates and information check out www.jodeemessina.com.
