"'Wait For Me' is vintage and yet so craftily produced that it serves as a connect between the memories of a master and a surprisingly relevant new chapter," says Billboard of the album's first single.
Face The Promise is a compelling album filled with Seger's keen observations on the issues we face today: the ever-increasing pressures of daily life (the rollicking "Wreak This Heart"), the allure of consumerism ("Are You") and addiction ("Won't Stop") and the complexities of modern relationships - with our loved ones, other nations and our fragile planet. Highlights include "No More," a powerful plea for peace, "The Answer's In The Question," an exquisite duet with Patty Loveless that contemplates the fleeting nature of love and life, and "Face The Promise," a hard-driving rocker about the need to break out from the confines of a small town and "face the promise of the promised land." In addition to 11 Seger originals, the album features one very cool cover song that Bob recorded with fellow Michigan native Kid Rock - "Real Mean Bottle," a song Vince Gill wrote about Merle Haggard. Seger and Rock trade vocals and slide guitar licks on their retro hammer rock style rendition of the song, which they co-produced.
A Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Seger has sold nearly 50 million albums to date and his hits ("Against The Wind," "Turn The Page," "Old Time Rock & Roll," "Night Moves," "Hollywood Nights," "Katmandu," "Beautiful Loser," to name but a few), are nuanced portraits of people striving to claim their corner of the American dream. Face The Promise extends Seger's legacy into the 21st century.
