Los Angeles, CA (MAYO Communications & MAYO PR) - In honor of the five-year anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, recording artists Benny Mardones and Teresa
James have come together to record a heartfelt version of the classic No 1 hit, 'United We Stand', in honor of America's fallen heroes. The stirring rendition features a seventy-two voice gospel choir and new lyrics written especially for this remembrance by the original 'United We Stand' UK songwriter, Tony Hiller. The song has been produced by hitmaker, Joel Diamond (The 5 Browns, Engelbert Humperdinck,
Gloria Gaynor).
'Teresa, Joel, and I recorded this song in honor of those who lost their lives on that fateful day,' remarked Mardones. 'We hope it touches those who hear it and that we will all remember how lucky we are to be living in America.'
Benny Mardones, has enjoyed an extremely successful twenty-five years as a songwriter and showman. He has shared the stage with Fleetwood Mac and the Rolling Stones, and has played alongside legends such as the Otis Redding band. In a Showtime tribute to rock icon Roy Orbison, Benny performed with the likes of Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, and Johnny Cash. Mardones' ability to compose music that transcends generational gaps and typical pop-rock-r&b genre pigeonholes has much to do with his achingly honest lyrics and soulful delivery. As Rolling Stone quips, his 'gloriously adolescent romanticism' appeals to all – regardless of age or musical background. Mardones is currently touring in support of his new album entitled, Let's Hear It For Love.
A native of Houston, Texas, Teresa James has performed live with such legendary artists as Levon Helm, Pat Benatar, Bonnie Raitt, Lee Roy Parnell, Delbert McClinton, Kirk Whalum, Paul DeLay, Jeffrey Osborne, Asleep At The Wheel among others. James' voice is featured on albums by Kirk Whalum, Stephen Bruton, Glen Clark, Randy Newman and blues artists Corey Stevens and Walter Trout. She even performed a duet with Mickey Mouse on the Disney album, Mickey's Comedy for Kids. Andie McDowell hired Teresa to coach her for her singing debut in the movie, Michael, singing the song that she and her husband, Terry Wilson, wrote.
