LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) - The Red Hot Chili Peppers's next album will be called By The Way and should arrive in stores "probably July or August," according to guitarist John Frusciante. Frusciante tells that the album is "almost finished" and "being mixed" in Los Angeles.

The guitarist says the album is a departure from its predecessor, 1999's Californication, but then again, it's not. He tells, "It's very different from out last record, but, you know, the soul of it--the foundation of it, the four of us playing--is still the same, but there's a lot going on and there's a lot of sounds coming from all over the place and a lot of different styles being combined and a lot of vocal harmonies."

Previous reports had the album arriving in June. "It's running a little behind schedule 'cause the songs are a little harder to mix than they anticipated," Frusciante explains, "because there's so many overdubs and stuff."
