NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - Eminem has shelled out $100,000 to settle a civil lawsuit brought by John Guerra, the man the rapper spotted kissing his then-wife, Kimberly Mathers, outside a suburban Detroit nightclub in 2000 .

Guerra filed the civil suit, which cited assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress, just a few days after Eminem allegedly pistol-whipped him in a confrontation outside the Hot Rocks Sports Bar and Music Caf in Warren, Mich. According to the Macomb Daily, Guerra has admitted to exchanging a "friendly" kiss with Mathers outside the club that evening.

"It should be pointed out, there were several friendly kisses among people saying goodbye," said John Gaber, attorney for Guerra, of the evening in question. "It's not like they were climbing into a back seat to make out or anything."

Eminem was arrested at the scene, which Guerra has called "the scariest moment of my life," and charged with felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. As part of a plea bargain in the case, Eminem pled guilty to one felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in February of 2001 and was sentenced to two years probation a few months later. Eminem and Mathers were divorced in March of 2001.

Eminem's legal woes hardly end there, however. The rapper was recently sued for $10 million by a French jazz pianist who claims Em nicked music from one of his compositions for use in the song "Kill You" from The Marshall Mathers LP.

Attempts to contact Interscope Records for comment were not returned by press time.
