Atlanta, GA (J. GLASS COMMUNICATIONS) - With today's music easily described as 'in a state of emergency', Satellite Radio's Terry Bello starts the movement to save positive music with the first annual Soul Music Summit, August 11-12, 2006 @ The Marriott Atlanta (Downtown).

The International Soul Music Summit, SOS: Save our Soul, is designed to keep the musicians and sounds we love from obscurity and anonymity. Bello says, 'Without valuable knowledge on distribution, radio play and marketing, soul or neo-soul music will become a thing of the past.' Coined neo-soul in the 1990s, this genre of music and its artists are continually over looked by major record labels (even when they have recording deals), radio, DJs and retail establishments. With out valuable knowledge on how to keep the music alive, recordings from legends such as Chaka Kahn, James Brown and Earth, Wind and Fire and new comers such as India.Arie, Angie Stone and Joss Stone may be lost for future generations.

The International Soul Music Summit takes place over two days and will feature frank and relevant panel discussions, performances and networking sessions. Panels will feature representatives from Sirius Radio, BET, Interscope/Geffen and Creative Loafing. Confirmed artists include Jaguar Wright, Peven Everett, Algebra, Gordon Chambers, Eric Roberson and more.

Attendees of the summit can take part in panel discussion on the following:
•Distribution/Retail
•Live Performance/Promotions
•Radio/DJ
•Producing/Songwriting
•Media/Publicity/Marketing
•Management and Record Labels

Terry Bello, Soul Music Summit GM says, 'Now is the time to highlight and recognize this genre of music as it creates an urban vibe that is a lifestyle that expands across the globe and is poised to positively impact the world!'
