Chicago, IL (triplettrecords.com) - Former Brunswick Records songwriter Leon Triplett releases the silky-smooth Soul CD "the Leon Triplett Project" on his own independent label Triplett Record Corporation.
Produced by Triplett, the Compact Disc is available online at CD Baby (https://cdbaby.com/cd/leontriplett) and on his website https://triplettrecords.com, which features $.99 cent downloads on all singles.
A former recording artist for Curtis Mayfield's CurTom label, Triplett and twin brother Levi recorded the songs "Get It", and "Pretty Please" in the 1970's. They also recorded "Black Serious Girl" and "Rooter to the Tooter" for Independence label, before becoming staff writers for Brunswick in 1973, where the twins wrote "So Sexy", originally performed by Sidney Joe Quails.
Incidentally, "So Sexy" has been revised for the Leon Triplett Project CD and the instrumental version features "Roxanne" on tenor sax. Triplett also wrote "Electrified Love" recorded by Stax recording artist Ernie Hines; and also "Just Fit" and "Wife for Lover Only", for the Twentieth Century record label.
A Vietnam War Navy veteran, Leon is an avid tennis player and qualified tennis instructor for inner city youth programs in Chicago. His music career temporarily ended from 1983 to 1991 when he switched to brokering insurance for New York Life; and later managed commercial mortgage loans and several other types of accounts and product lines for major companies Metropolitan Life, Mutual of Omaha, and Equitable Life.
Back from his hiatus, Leon returns to the industry as a solo artist, re-energized and determined to leave an even more indelible mark as a songwriter, producer and singer; and build a top-quality repertoire of songs that even the most accomplished of today's artists would appreciate.
The Leon Triplett Project includes Soul/R&B/Jazz tracks that are perfect for adult contemporary listeners and Steppers everywhere. Potential classics are "Weekend Madness", "So Sexy", and "Try Love".
The title tune, "Love America" performed by the late founder of Rasputin's Stash, Martin Dumas, Jr., is a song that captures Black America's patriotic spirit and was co-written by Pastor T.L. Barrett, Brian "Buzz" Patterson, and Levi Triplett to memorialize the 9/11 tragedy. And the cut, "Racism This Generation" features some heavy Rap from Triplett recording artist Davo.
Triplett Records is located in south suburban Flossmoor, where Leon writes, produces and manages his label plus a growing stable of artists covering the Rap and Hip Hop genres. He is still in demand as a songwriter and is currently producing a song for The Notations on their upcoming project; as well as the world-famous Delfonics, who have recently requested his services for a future project.
Leon has officially begun his venture into the Gospel market with his first album: "The Gospel according to Triplett" currently featuring two tracks "Let Jesus Love The Hell Out Of You" and "Your Need For God", with more to come. Both songs are available on the Triplett Records website and Gospel Swap https://GospelSwap.com; and are currently in rotation on Internet radio stations https://GospelPower.fm and https://SpiritCo1.com.
