LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts) - It's been two years since Pearl Jam's last studio album, but it now looks like the follow-up to 2000's Binaural is a bit closer than before.

After a short break from recording, the band is heading back to the studio in April to finish up work on its next album, according to the Pearl Jam Rumor Pit Web site. The new album, which will likely be out in early 2003, is being produced by Adam Kasper, who worked with the band in 1994 when he served as an assistant engineer on 1994's Vitalogy.

In addition, Eddie Vedder & Co. are working on a rarities album that should be finalized in the next month and might be out by the end of this year. In related news, Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard's side project Brad will have its third album out this summer on Redline Records.
