London, UK (SONY BMG MUSIC Entertainment) - Shakira has beaten off some of the stiffest competition in chart history to grab the number one slot with Hips Don't Lie.

The song, which features Wyclef Jean, climbed up the charts at the weekend stopping Nelly Furtado and Pussycat Dolls from holding the coveted spot.
As well as being La Shak's first number one, it marks the worldwide domination of the song which has seen massive chart success in pretty much every country on the planet.
