New York, NY (Atlantic Records) - ST. ELSEWHERE, the debut album from Downtown/Atlantic recording duo Gnarls Barkley, is shaping up as one of the year's most extraordinary success stories. The critically acclaimed collection, which was released this past Tuesday, May 9th, is already a sensation online, topping the iTunes pop sales charts a week before the CD release even hit the shelves. In addition, ST. ELSEWHERE is the No 2 top-selling album overall.

Gnarls Barkley is the not-so-secret identity of mad genius producer Danger Mouse (Gorillaz, THE GREY ALBUM) and Dirty South pioneer Cee-Lo (of Goodie Mob fame). Already among the year's most acclaimed releases, ST. ELSEWHERE is a stunning achievement, a kaleidoscopic collection of soulful pop hooks, dizzying grooves and astonishing new sounds. 'Crazy,' the set's irresistible first single, made history earlier this spring, topping the UK singles chart based on download sales alone, then going on to hold the No 1 spot for six consecutive weeks. The album also debuted at number one on the UK charts.

'Crazy' is now beginning to blow up at multi-format radio outlets here in the U.S., bulleting this week into the top 10 in audience at Modern Rock. This track has crossed all boundaries getting played on Urban, Modern Rock, Top 40, Hot AC and Triple A stations. The track's inventive video recently had its MTV2 premiere on their popular Subterranean, and was then named the channel's 'Unleashed' clip of the week. In addition, 'Crazy' has just been added at MTV, as well as at the network's affiliated outlets, MTV.com, MTVu, and MTV Jams, where it debuted as 'Jam of the Week.' The clip is also scoring play on VH1 and Fuse, where it is currently in 'Oven Fresh' rotation. At BET, 'Crazy' was introduced as the 'New Joint' on 106 & Park last Thursday, May 4th and is now in Medium rotation and 'Rated Next' on the channel.

On May 24th, Gnarls Barkley will make their North American television debut, performing 'Crazy' on NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien. The duo is set for a sold-out live show at New York's famed Webster Hall on May 22nd. Gnarls Barkley - who recently made their official U.S. live debut at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in the California desert - will then take the main stage at this summer's Lollapalooza in Chicago, set for August 5th.
