(Launch) - Beck has recorded a version of the song, "Funky Little Song," for a tribute album to obscure electronic music pioneers Bruce Haack and Esther Nelson. Beck joined tribute organizers DJMeDJYou for the track. Others set to appear on the effort - which is to benefit autism research - include Money Mark, Stereolab, Mouse On Mars, Sukia and others. Meanwhile, Beck celebrated his birthday with 40,000 of his closest friends on July 8 while on stage in Japan, according to his official Web site (Beck.com). The crowd treated the singer-songwriter to a round of "Happy Birthday" while a birthday cake was delivered to the stage. Beck will be returning to Japan next month to headline the annual Summersonic Festival. The event takes place Aug. 18 in Tokyo and Aug. 19 in Osaka. Others on the bill include Incubus, Marilyn Manson, Rancid, Primal Scream and the Living End.
