LOS ANGELES (Fuelweb.com) - Fuel has sent Toyota's headquarters in Torrance, Calif., a request to stop using the name Fuel the Music Tour and Web site address for a tour Toyota is currently sponsoring. Toyota has not yet responded to the request, which was sent on Friday (Feb. 8). If the two parties do not come to an agreement on the matter, a formal, court-filed cease and desist order will be filed, according to a spokesperson for Fuel. The tour (www.fuelthemusic.com), which began in early February and runs through April, features Sum 41, Hoobastank, and American Hi-Fi (not playing on the same dates, though). Fuel songwriter-guitarist Carl Bell said in a statement released on Wednesday (Feb. 13), "We want to clarify any confusion among our fans, and just feel this is an unfortunate oversight by the organizers of this tour. We wish the tour well, but we've fought long and hard to make a name for ourselves and don't want to mislead music fans in any way. Music and touring are what we do, so we have to protect our name." The Pennsylvania quartet found out about the tour when it saw an ad in a major magazine, and fans began emailing the band's official Web site (www.fuelweb.com) asking about Fuel's participation in this tour. Fuel, meanwhile, is currently at home writing new songs for its forthcoming third full-length album. The new disc will be the follow-up to Something Like Human, which spawned the hit "Hemorrhage (In My Hands)."
