NEW YORK (Top40 Charts) - Many of hip-hop's brightest stars turned out on Sunday (January 27) to participate in Ray Benzino's latest video, "Shine Like My Son," from his debut solo album, The Benzino Project. The shoot was somewhat different than that of an average video since all of the stars brought their sons along to be included in the video, since the song and clip center around the relationships between fathers and sons.
Video director Benny Boom told about the concept behind the video: "the actual idea is Ray Benzino's. We met actually about another video that we wanted to do but I wasn't able to get a chance to do it scheduling-wise. But then, you know, he called me back and said, 'You know, there's this other video that I really, really want you to do that involves me and my son and that whole thing.' When I heard it, I was real interested in it and I was, like, 'That's a good thing,' so he came with the idea of it being a school and father's day at the school, and I really thought that was, like, really cool and really slick, so I was definitely with it." The "Shine Like My Son" video is due out in late February and will feature cameos from the following celebrities and their sons: Master P, Guru, Minister Benjamin Muhammad, Jadakiss, Psycho Les of the Beatnuts, Kool Herc, Jam Master Jay, Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz of Onyx, Chris Lighty, and Stephen Baldwin.
