TORONTO (AP) -
Nickelback has swung back at rival Canadian singer Matt Good in an interview with Rolling Stone.
In an article posted at rollingstone.com, singer Chad Kroeger talked of beating "the living piss" out of Good, who he described as "pathetic."
Kroeger lashed out at Good after Rolling Stone's Mark Binelli asked him: "Who do you hate?"
Kroeger answered "Matthew Good," to which Binelli replied "who?"
"Exactly! Who?" Kroeger hissed.
"He's a Canadian artist who sells hundreds of thousands of records in Canada but couldn't sell s-t in America, and since his fellow Canadian band went down to America and worked their asses off and did sell records, he thought it'd be OK to take some cheap shots at us," Kroeger explains.
"It's pathetic. Once you come to America and sell a million records in two months, suddenly you're a bad guy, a Creed rip-off."
When Rolling Stone worried that the rift between Kroeger and Good could turn violent, Kroeger replied: "Well, I'm from Alberta, and he's a city kid, right?"
I don't know how city kids deal with things, but when you talk s-t about somebody from a small town, they find you in a back alley and they deal with the situation. They beat the living piss out of you and then laugh at you the next day when you're seen around town all marked up."
Nickelback joins Our Lady Peace and The Tragically Hip as bands that have come under fire from Good.
Kroeger, who revealed to Rolling Stone that he once spent time in juvenile detention, concluded the interview by saying: "What did I say? 'We'll find him in a back alley, beat the piss out of him.' You can make it sound good, right?"
