EMI Artists And Songwriters Take Nominations In Virtually Every Category For This Year's Brit Awards

NEW YORK (EMI) - EMI Group artists and songwriters had a strong showing at the nominations for this year's Brit Awards with EMI Music artists picking up 13 nominations while EMI Music Publishing writers and songs collected 25. Overall EMI gained nominations in virtually every category.

Coldplay lead EMI Music's nominations with four - Best British Group, Best British Album for X&Y, Best British Single for Speed of Sound and Best British Live Act - whilst KT Tunstall is up for three awards - Best British Female Solo Artist, British Breakthrough Act and Best British Live Act. Gorillaz have two nominations in the categories of Best British Group and Best British Album for Demon Days.

With Kate Bush also nominated in the best album category for her latest EMI release Aerial, EMI Music has three out of the five nominations for best British album of the year. Kate Bush is also in the running for Best British Female Solo Artist.

Also nominated are Robbie Williams, who is up for Best British Solo Male, the award that he has won four times in the past, and The Magic Numbers who are up for British Breakthrough Act.

EMI Music Publishing's tally is led by James Blunt who is nominated for five awards including Best British Male Solo Artist, Best British Album for Back To Bedlam, Best British Single for You"re Beautiful, British Breakthrough Act and Best Pop Act. Blunt is joined in the Breakthrough Act category by EMI Music Publishing stablemates Arctic Monkeys.

Gorillaz and Kate Bush, who are both signed to EMI Music Publishing as well as EMI Music, picked up their two nominations apiece, while in the international categories Arcade Fire are up for three awards - Best International Group, Best International Album for Funeral and International Breakthrough Act. Kanye West is in the running for Best International Male Solo Artist and Best International Album for Late Registration whilst Kelly Clarkson received two nominations for Best Pop Act and Best International Female Solo Artist.

EMI Music Publishing's other nominations include Natasha Bedingfield, Lemar, Ms Dynamite, Kasabian, Missy Elliot, White Stripes, Daniel Powter and the EMI co-published Push The Button by Sugababes which is up for Best British Single. Like EMI Music, EMI Music Publishing also have three out of five nominees for the best British album of the year.
The winners will be unveiled at the Brit Awards on 15 February at Earls Court in London.
