LOS ANGELES (AP) - Limp Bizkit's "Put Your Guitar Where Your Mouth Is" search for Wes Borland's replacement starts today (January 10) at the Guitar Center in Fresno, California. The guitar search tour runs through February 11, winding down at the Guitar Center in Hollywood, California.
Jason Williamson, the manager of Fresno's Guitar Center, told LAUNCH about the competition. "How it's working here is Limp Bizkit and their management will be here, and beginning at 10 a.m. their management office will start auditions. And how I have it set up is I have this huge tent set out in the parking lot and I'm just going to have a line of people inside the tent and they're just going to bring one person in at a time and sit down and talk to them and audition them or whatever."
Williamson then said the finalists will jam with Limp Bizkit later that night. "During the course of the day, they will choose particular people that they want that, say, fit the style, fit the look, and obviously can play," he said. "And they will actually come back after hours, after the store closes, and the band will actually be inside my store, in my pro audio room, and they will get to jam with the band and audition with the band."
The jam at the end is open to the guitarists who make the first cut and a few fans chosen at random in each city through the Limp Bizkit website. Williamson told LAUNCH, "We're really excited to have Limp Bizkit at the store in Fresno and to be able to offer this to the community of Fresno." He is expecting between 500 and 1,500 people to show up for the event.
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst said on his website in an audio message. "Let me tell you something, we're looking for a new guitar player. You need to try out for our band if you play guitar. I don't care what you look like, I don't care if you're a girl or a boy, I don't care what age you are. I just care if you speak your soul through the strings on your guitar...Do whatever you've got to do, just get to the Guitar Center and try out with your guitar."
