San Francisco, CA (Community Musician) - Having identified the struggle the independent musician has providing themselves with a suite of services typically associated with record labels, such as booking, world class music production, creative services, and e-commerce, among others, Community Musician re-launched its website featuring The Package.

The Package is a low-cost, flat fee, turnkey bundle of products for musicians that gives them everything they need to make their music careers happen. The Package includes production of the artists' music by award winning producers in Community Musician studios, 1,000 CDs, an eCommerce Website, professional photography, graphic design, a press or promotion kit, digital distribution and a feature performance in a major local venue, all at a starting price of $2,995.

In addition to The Package, the new website also features the introduction of The Label, an offer wherein Community Musician signs artists and invests its own money into their careers. An artist who buys The Package and is successful with it, will be eligible to be signed to the The Label. Artists signed to The Label receive 50% to 100% of music production and touring costs.

'We're going to make sure that every dollar spent by musicians gives them the best possible chance to have a real career in music,' said Scott Arey, CEO of Community Musician. Arey went on to say, 'Much like the software developers of the '90's, we will become a Music Developer. Today more than more than 90% of music made never sells more than 10,000 units, and there are approximately 30,000 albums released each year. In the current record company model, the typical artist needs to sell a minimum of 50,000 to 75,000 units to breakeven. In the case of the big budget major label, the artist needs to sell a minimum of 500,000 units to realize any royalties beyond the advance for production given to them in their contract. The Package Community Musician is introducing today will enable artists to sell as few as 600 CD's at $10 a piece and breakeven on their invesent. This is significant because the product they will release will be produced by an award winning producer, which we believe can make all the difference in the world.'

Community Musician's new website demonstrates its belief in the value of professional music production with a Flash demo that plays the music of independent musicians before and after a Community Musician producer's involvement.

'When you hear the before and after samples, you immediately understand how a musician with raw talent can be transformed by a professional producer. And we're not out to make all music sound like what you hear on radio; our objective is to make independent music of high enough quality that it could be on major radio, yet preserve the character of the musicians' unique personality,' Arey said.

With a small round of funding by Craigslist.org, Community Musician formally started in August of 1999 as SFmusician.com, with the mission of providing Internet music classifieds to the San Francisco Bay Area music community. Having adopted the community based, integrity infused philosophy of Craigslist.org, Community Musician is today one of the largest sources of musician classifieds on the Internet, reaching hundreds of thousands of musicians every month in 72 North American cities.
