NEW YORK, NY. (Epic Records) - Nominations for the 48th Annual Grammy Awards were announced today by The Recording Academy and included two nods for the Scottish band Franz Ferdinand.

In the Best Alternative Music Album Category, Franz was nominated for their sophomore album YOU COULD HAVE IT SO MUCH BETTER (Domino/Epic), which hit No 8 in the US and made top ten in almost two dozen countries around the world, including No 1 in their native Britain.

"DO YOU WANT TO" - the first single taken from You Could Have It So Much Better was recognized in the category Best Rock Performance By A Duo or Group With Vocal.

"...On album two the Scots flesh out their grooves with beefier basslines, a Bonhamesque drum stomp and that ballsiest of rock indulgences, the piano ballad." Blender Magazine's Top Ten Albums Of The Year.

"It's this intriguing blend of darkness and bright pop glow - intensity without the angst - that makes Ferdinand such a fresh pop force." Bob Hilburn, LA Times

This is the band's second year in a row for Grammy nominations! Last year they were nominated in three categories for their celebrated debut FRANZ FERDINAND.

The GRAMMY AWARDS ceremony will be broadcast live by CBS on February 8, 2006 at 8pm et/pt. To learn more please visit www.grammy.com or contact:
