WASHINGTON, DC (USO/ Top 40 Charts) - Singer, songwriter and producer Rome will travel to Hawaii, Korea and Okinawa to entertain troops on his first USO tour Dec. 1-11. Once there, the multi-talented vocalist will perform free shows, sign autographs and meet with military personnel and their families.

Born Jerome Woods in Benton Harbor, Mich., Rome's most recent album is titled "Do It." His smooth R&B style is captured in several tracks, including "I Was Wrong," "Are You Ready" and "The Rest of Our Life."

With a sound that blends Hip Hop, Rap, Pop and Soul, Rome burst onto the scene nearly a decade ago. In 1997, he released his self-titled debut album on RCA Records. The album's hit single, "I Belong to You," rocketed up the R&B charts. Both the debut single and album went platinum and sold more than one million copies. His first album led to several awards, including "Best R&B Aritst of 1997" from the City of Detroit and "Outstanding R&B Artist" at the California Music Awards. He released two more albums, "Thank You" and "Rome 2000: Thank You," in 1999. His skill as an R&B balladeer and his velvet voice made him one of the most sought after singers of the late 1990s.

This tour continues the USO tradition of bringing entertainment to troops serving far from home. Several celebrities and bands have made trips for the USO so far this year, including Toby Keith, Charles Barkley, Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey, Drowning Pool, Gary Sinise, Rascal Flatts and Adema.

For nearly 65 years, the USO (United Service Organizations) has been providing morale, welfare and recreational services to U.S. military personnel and their families. The USO is a nonprofit, charitable organization, relying on the generosity of the American people to support its programs and services. The USO is supported by World Partners, AT&T Corporation, Avon Products, Inc., BAE SYSTEMS, Bass Pro Shops, Build-A-Bear Workshop, Clear Channel Communications, The Coca-Cola Company, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., Lockheed Martin Corporation, Military Channel, National Football League, S&K Sales Company and TriWest Healthcare Alliance. Other corporate donors, including the United Way and Combined Federal Campaign (CFC-0600), have joined thousands of individual donors to support the USO.
