NEW YORK (Switchfoot Official Website) - Switchfoot bassist Tim Foreman talks to Music Matters' Mary Smedes Pike about touring, fame, and where the San Diego band found inspiration for their new album entitled Nothing Is Sound.

Coming off the double-platinum 2003 hit, The Beautiful Letdown, Switchfoot officially begins a new U.S. tour on October 17th after spending time in Australia and Japan. 'That's kind of been our motto on every record, to play a lot of shows. That's what makes the band,' says Tim Foreman.
Foreman explains that this album, Switchfoot's fifth, is a very honest collection of songs. 'Hopefully there's been some growth over the last few years, new experiences, and that comes out in the songs,' he says.

The new album is fittingly titled, Nothing is Sound, Foreman explains, 'Because my career, my bass guitar, everything could break down tomorrow - and we've seen that happen with a number of bands - there's not a whole lot that I can hold onto and say that is stable.'
Foreman says fame does not mean the band is any happier now then when they were 'just five kids from San Diego surfing and playing music.' He says the band has come to a healthy realization when it comes to hype, 'good or bad, don't believe it.'
