NEW YORK (AP) - Slipknot has canceled a 20-date U.S. tour which was to begin Nov. 21 in Fargo, N.D. and wrap Dec. 21 in the band's hometown of Des Moines, Iowa. The jaunt was cancelled after the wife of percussionist Shawn Chahan (also known as #6) was admitted earlier this week to the Mayo Clinic for Chohn's Disease, according to a release from the band.

Just last week, the band had confirmed its winter headlining outing, which had followed a stint with System Of A Down on the Pledge of Allegiance tour. Chahan's wife is said to need six weeks to recuperate, during which time the band member wanted to stay in Iowa. The U.S. dates will likely be rescheduled sometime after the group returns to North America from Japan at the end of March. However, the band's European tour, scheduled to begin Jan. 20 in Helsinki, Finland, is not affected.

Slipknot is touring in support of its latest Roadrunner effort "Iowa," which debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 in September and has sold more than half a million copies to date in the U.S., according to SoundScan.
