NEW YORK (AP) - With the release of his new solo album Goddess In The Doorway looming, Mick Jagger is using his website to tell us what it's all about. In an interview posted at mickjagger.com, the Rolling Stones frontman says, "These are all very personal songs. The thing about this album is that it kept to the original idea. Sometimes these things take on a life of their own, which can be great, too, but this one stayed true in a lot of ways to the original concept," which he describes as "very personal songs that could be sung directly to you." Jagger adds, "If you wanted to, you could sing these songs in a kitchen more or less with an acoustic guitar. So the album would basically be like a guy with a guitar singing a tune...it's about the songs and what they're saying." As for what those songs are saying, Jagger says there's a specific, if unintentional, feel to the album: "There's a mix of romantic songs and some songs that have some overlay of the spiritual side. Those seem to be the two things going on in this record, really. But I hadn't thought about it too much until I stood back and looked at all the songs together." Goddess In The Doorway comes out next Tuesday (November 20). Jagger's doing a private show at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles Thursday (November 15), when he'll play a few songs from the new album, including the first single "God Gave Me Everything," as well as what his site calls "a couple of 'covers.'" The "God Gave Me Everything" performance will be recorded and then shown as part of Being Mick, the one-hour Jagger documentary airing Thanksgiving night (November 22) on ABC.
