Nina Sky is launching the second phase of their Operation: Infiltration, craftfully designed to follow the breakthrough success of the duo's hit single, 'Move Ya Body.' After recently garnering worldwide critical acclaim and accolades for their first phase, inclusive of an ASCAP Pop Award for one of the most performed songs in 2004 (an achievement shared with luminaries, such as Usher, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, and Outkast), The Jettsonz are strapping on their seat belts for another stratospheric adventure. Notably, 'Move Ya Body' went on to soar to defying heights, ultimately peaking at No 4 on The Billboard Hot 100, No 1 on Billboard Hot Dance Music, as well as top positions on other Billboard charts.
Comprised of a dynamic duo themselves, The Jettsonz (Elijah Wells and Lionel Birmingham) are extending their musical family to form a prolific union of various recording artists and groups. To be released as an album under The Jettsonz moniker, the first offering is the reggaeton-inspired rendition of Mary J. Blige's platinum hit, 'Real Love.' With lead vocals performed by 17-year-old Thalisha, a native of Washington Heights, New York, new definition is added to its lyrical and rhythmical appeal.
'After the success of Nina Sky, it has always been our plan to find and develop new artists and to prove our worth as talent developers and hit makers,' Wells explains.
In a time where the reggaeton genre is deservingly finding its way into more mainstream markets, the rendition not only recaptures an attentive audience entranced by the production styling of The Jettsonz, but its vocal prowl also validates its eargasmic quest for a 'real love,' to search for those who possess a genuine appreciation for the genre and maintain an unfaltering respect for the artists and producers representing it.
'Growing up in the United States as a Dominican female,' Thalisha proclaims, 'I have been inspired by artists, such as Mary J. Blige, Celia Cruz, and
Lauren Hill, who have broken boundaries with their wide appeal and emotional broadness expressed in their music.'
Newly hailed as the 'La Princesa of Reggaeton & B,' Thalisha will continue her journey when her own album debuts soon. Additional offerings from The Jettsonz' album will serve an eclectic mix of pop, hip-hop, rock, and gospel, and R&B (soul and reggaeton combined). Live musicians will be incorporated throughout for dramatic flair.
