Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" Heard Over 230 Million Times In The Last Two Weeks!
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Legendary Grammy Award-winning band Fleetwood Mac's 1977 smash, "Dreams," has been heard more than 230 million times in the last two weeks across streaming services, social media, and U.S. radio. The classic track exploded when a feel-good video of Idaho resident Nathan Apodaca lip-syncing Stevie Nicks' vocals took over social media. The video ignited a "Dreams Challenge" with people all over the world making their own version of the video on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and Reels. Even band members Mick Fleetwood and Stevie Nicks got in on the global event by making their own TikTok videos to the song.

Warner Music Group's Global Catalog Division confirms the hit generated over 36 million streams in the last two weeks alone, up 212% from the previous fortnight, with downloads up 1,188% over the same period. The song reached No. 1 on iTunes, climbed to as high as 6 on Spotify's U.S. chart, and re-entered the Billboard Hot 100 (dated Oct. 17) at No. 21, landing on the chart for the first time since its original release.

New audiences were also turned on to Fleetwood Mac's music, with "Dreams" seeing a 314% increase in average daily Spotify streams from 23-27-year-olds, and a 245% increase from 18-22-year-olds since the original video was posted. The viral phenomenon also saw people revisit or discover Fleetwood Mac's back catalog, with "The Chain" and "Landslide" both also hitting the Spotify U.S. chart. Across all streaming services, plays of Fleetwood Mac's iconic catalog were up 68% to 128.7 million streams over the last two weeks.

Kevin Gore, President of Global Catalog, Recorded Music for Warner Music Group said, "It's exciting for us to think about a whole new generation of fans discovering the unmistakable sound of Fleetwood Mac and expressing themselves through this iconic song. Nathan's video and the resulting 'Dreams Challenge' has created a moment of pure joy shared by people all over the world. This phenomenon also shows how evergreen hits can have the same impact, the same virality, as the biggest songs of today, especially when streaming has erased the boundaries of geography and genre, bringing music of all eras to fans of all ages."

Fleetwood Mac's iconic album Rumours, which includes "Dreams," topped the charts when Warner Records released it in 1977, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and certified 20X RIAA platinum, with the song itself reaching No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart. The band's back catalog has proven a consistent performer on streaming services, with Rumours ranking as one of the top five best-selling Rock albums in Nielsen's 2020 mid-year report and Fleetwood Mac named the fourth best-selling Rock artist this year.

Fleetwood Mac has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, with Nicks also being inducted as a solo artist in 2019.
