Shanghai Blues Unveil Ambitious New Alt-rock Single 'Save Me' Released 16th September 2020
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Following on from B-side, 'Honey', released last month, East-London quartet SHANGHAI BLUES are delighted to unveil their new single, 'Save Me'—out today through all good digital service providers.

An exhilarating dose of drive-time-paced rock, 'Save Me' puts on display the band's impulse for romanticised pop hooks, able to set them to work even when dealing with the abject heaviness of life in 2020.

"Save Me comes from those moments of feeling momentarily pinned under the weight of the world," explains frontman, James Chalk. "Life can sometimes become overwhelming but all we need to do is reach out and talk to clear our minds, find that strength again and reassure that we're still on the right path."

Produced by Oz Craggs (Neck Deep, Mallory Knox, Feed The Rhino) at Hidden Track Studios, Shanghai Blues have been rightly tagged as one of the hottest new independent alternative rock groups in the country.

Meeting at an early age and becoming childhood friends before forming from the remnants of other local bands, the shared kinship of Shanghai Blues worms its way into the band's seamless style of songwriting; a display of melodic intimacy that knows how to burst into life at just the right moments.

B-side single ' Honey' was released last month and picked up support from Spotify with curation in their Hot New Bands and Fresh Finds: Rock editorial playlists, as well as radio play from BBC introducing (London), and Charlie Ashcroft (Amazing Radio).

Named after a now sadly defunct Chinese restaurant, Shanghai Blues are Londoners through and through, and, much like the city they call home, the band draw influence from a plethora of musical styles. This varied palette only adds further texture to their brand of alternative rock, nestling itself somewhere between the driving riff-led Americana of bands like The Gaslight Anthem, and the new wave of Brit pop-indie charm charged forward into the realm of public consciousness by groups like Circa Waves and Blossoms.

Boasting a live presence that is equally as energetic and powerful as their recordings, Shanghai Blues have shared stages with the likes of Marsicans, Theme Park, Palace, Neon Waltz, The Rifles and Glass Caves, and have sold-out seven consecutive London shows at venues such as the Old Blue Last and The Camden Assembly.

Save Me / Honey are out now and available through all good digital service providers
