New York, NY (Top40 Charts) DJ Shadow has revealed a behind-the-scenes piece that details how his music video for "Rocket Fuel" came together. A chaotic reimagining of the conspiracy surrounding the moon landing, the video imagines a battle royale between two astronauts competing over who would take man's first steps on the moon. A full set was built out for the video including a lunar rover, a Houston-esque control room, plus aerial fight scenes and a Stanley Kubrick look-a-like. The video was directed by Sam Pilling and his Pulse Films production company.
The "Rocket Fuel" behind-the-scenes video first debuted on Tuesday as part of the virtual Fader Fort stream that raised money for charities helping those hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The song, featuring De La Soul, was released on Shadow's latest album Our Pathetic Age, released in November (and they performed it together on Jimmy Kimmel Live as well).

Shadow and Pilling previously worked together on the music video for "Nobody Speak," his 2016 collaboration with Run the Jewels that was ranked one of the best music videos of the last decade by IndieWire, and nominated for a VMA. Pilling has also worked with The Weeknd, J.Cole, and Major Lazer.
DJ Shadow also just announced the cancellation/postponement of his upcoming tour. He says: "Eventually, the tour will restart. In the meantime, I'll be doing the same thing you're doing: heeding the advice of health care professionals as best as I can, so that we all can emerge from this crisis intact and stronger than before.
