SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (www.ignaciopena.com) - Puerto Rican rocker Ignacio Pena will perform in an acoustic showcase at Torero located in Miami's
Bayside Marketplace on Friday, June 10, 2005 at 10 p.m.
Doors open at 9:30 p.m.
The show, sponsored by Boom Magazine and Miami's own
Fuego Rock show on Salsa 98.3 FM, is Pe?a's only scheduled performance in Miami and comes on the heel of his win of South By Southwest's first-ever Jukebox Jury panel in which he took music industry insiders by storm with his English-language song Only End Up Lonely. To promote the event, Pe?a will be interviewed live on
Fuego Rock by host Kike Posada at 9 p.m. EST on Sunday, June 5.
Pe?a will perform songs from his sophomore release, Anormal, including Lonely and his latest single, Falta 1 Persona. He explains, 'Falta is ultimately about the fact that we're indelibly connected to each other. In order to do most things (i.e., love, family, a band) we need other people.' Conceived during the aftermath of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks on
September 11th, 2001, the album is a conceptual proposal that entwines 12 songs that narrate a process of existential conflicts.
Pena produced a video for the track A Dios that will be featured on www.pulsorock.com. The video was created to mirror his highly acclaimed audio/visual show Phono/Graphico that couples powerful images of hyper reality with the lyrics of the songs. In explaining the premise behind A Dios he states, 'When something does not work effectively you contact the manufacturer. A Dios is a customer service call to the manufacturer.'
Following Pena's stint in Miami, he will return to Puerto Rico to finish his summer tour.
