New York, NY (Top40 Charts) 'BBC Future Headliners' Derry/Belfast-based alternative rock quartet SUGARWOLF are delighted to announce that their new single 'Scared of The Dark' is out now via all good digital service providers, accompanied by an atmospheric new music video.

In light of the release, the newcomers play a short run of Irish headline dates through November and December 2019 (see below for full listings) with support from Dublin rock band Sick Love.

"'Scared Of The Dark' is about admitting fears and confessing hopelessness," comment the band on the new single. "Running away from your problems and hiding true feelings to protect someone you love leaves you in an uneasy state—unable to face reality and scared of the consequences when you eventually do. You want to keep things how they are but it's tearing you apart, life is distorted, and you crave connection. You take the journey alone, unsure of what will happen, and it scares you."

Sugarwolf are no strangers to the DIY graft of the Irish and UK rock scenes—led by indomitable front woman Emma Gallagher, in their previous incarnation as Making Monsters the band rapidly secured a reputation as one of Ireland's most exciting new rock outfits. With critical support at key national press including the BBC Radio One Rock Show, The Metro, Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, UPSET, and LOUDER, they're determined that their recent line up change won't stop them continuing that trajectory.

"It's great to be back making music with good friends and working with the many creative people we've been lucky to meet through music," the quartet explain of their return. "Sugarwolf was born from a surprising turn of events, and we couldn't be happier with how things worked out. We've spent the last year making sounds and we're ready to share what we've got—we think it's very special."

Support slots around the release of their 2017 EP Bad Blood with Fightstar, Black Peaks, Young Guns, Employed To Serve and Skindred helped earn the band a reputation as one of the best live acts in Ireland and, as a result, over the last few months they've landed endorsement deals with Jägermeister, Orange Amps and Ruach Music.

The band relaunched earlier this year, showcasing their new name and streamlined sound with debut single 'Loose Ends'. Followed by live dates with Queen Zee and festival appearances across the UK & Ireland at Camden Rocks, Stendahl Festival, Future Sounds and BelFest, they have since been picked for the BBC's 'Future Headliners' series.

Citing influence from a broad palette of musical flavours that includes the disparate sounds of Bring Me The Horizon, Wolf Alice, and Lady Gaga, their diverse and uniquely organic brand of rock looks fixed to set them apart from the park of rising hopefuls heading into 2020.

'Scared of The Dark' is released 15th November 2019
