NASHVILLE, TN. (Ultrax Records) - Platinum-selling Blessid Union of Souls introduce their fifth studio recording, Perception, Tuesday, May 10 on Ultrax Records. Known for mega-hit singles such as 'I Believe' and 'Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me For Me),' the release of Perception marks the first project from the group since The Singles (2001).
The new 16-track album is the product of an all-star line-up of producers - Matt Senatore, Rich E. Blaze (TLC, Ricky Martin), Eddie Head, Andrew Frye (Michael W. Smith), Jerome Harmon (Kirk Franklin), and Wayne Stalling (Mutt Lange) - who contributed their talent to the project.
Perception was recorded in various cities around the U-S, including Los Angeles, Dallas, and Cincinnati. With career sales approaching 2 Million albums, Blessid Union of Souls combine multiple styles of music to forge their self-dubbed 'rural soul' sound.

Eliot Sloan, lead vocalist, explains why the release of Perception is more than just another album release, 'Perception marks a new chapter in the life of Blessid Union of Souls. We have two new members - Bryan Billhimer and Shaun Schaefer - and these guys are vital to the existence of Blessid Union. We are very excited to see what our future holds.'

Blessid Union of Souls soared onto the music scene in 1995 with the release of the platinum-selling Home, featuring the Top 10 hit singles 'I Believe' and 'Let Me Be The One.' They followed Home with their self-titled sophomore effort (1997). Their third album, Walking Off The Buzz, featured 'Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me For Me),' and was released in the Spring of 1999. The Singles hit stores in 2001.

The five-man band knows the importance of touring and being in touch with their fans. Sloan points out the impact life on the road has on their music, 'That's where the songs come from, being out on the road and meeting the people who have supported us for so long. The stage brings to fruition ideas you just can't come up with locked in a studio. You have to see what moves people and be genuinely interested in what they have to say and in tune to what they are feeling because they're the reason we're doing this in the first place. We realize that the songs we create have a lasting affect on people's lives.' Jeff Pence, guitarist, adds, 'We love performing, it's a different experience every night – different city, different people, a different type of energy.'
