NEW YORK (AP) - Aaliyah and the Isley Brothers had discussed a possible collaboration before her untimely death this summer, according to the group's lead singer.
"We were going to do a duet together, so I was looking forward to that,'' Ronald Isley told The Associated Press. "She was a beautiful lady.''

The 22-year-old singer was killed along with eight others Aug. 25 when a small plane carrying them back from a video shoot in the Bahamas crashed shortly after takeoff.

Aaliyah had already performed covers of Isley Brothers' classics on her first two albums; her remake of "At Your Best (You Are Love)'' was one of her early hits.

Isley said that song will be forever identified with Aaliyah. "I was so hurt over the thing that happened to her, and in our concerts, we turn that (song) over to her - that is her song forever,'' he said.
