HOUSTON, TX. (www.denarrismusic.com) - Multi-talented music artist Denarris was one of the top four finalists in the February VH-1 Song of the Year Songwriting Competition for his melodic, emotion-rendering instrumental, 'Mallisa' from his new smooth jazz/neo-soul CD, "Songs From The Heart Part 1." The VH1 Song of the Year Competition is an international contest focusing on the art and discipline of songwriting.

When asked about this recognition, Denarris responded, 'It is truly an honor to be recognized by the VH1 Song of The Year organization on an international level.'

The nominated song "Mallisa" is featured in the independent film, "Art," written and produced by Soleil Films.

About Denarris
Born and raised in Joliet, Illinois, 40 miles south of Chicago, Denarris grew up at the crossroads of East and West Coast sensibilities and was exposed to many different styles of music. He credits giants such as Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder with shaping his eclectic style. Influences from masters across the musical spectrum, from Henry Mancini to Spyro Gyra, from Earth Wind and Fire and Tower of Power to Chicago and The Who can be heard in his writing to this day.

Single tracks or the entire CD "Songs From The Heart Part 1" are now available for digital downloads at iTunes. The CD can also be purchased online at
