"After The Wedding" - The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack By Mychael Danna
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for Bart Freundlich's film After the Wedding is being released digitally on August 9 and on CD August 23, exclusively through Music.Film Recordings and Varèse Sarabande. The soundtrack album features music by Academy Award and Emmy-winning composer Mychael Danna. The album also comprises three additional tracks from Commodores, The Counterfits and an original song written and performed for the film by After the Wedding actress Abby Quinn.

The highly regarded drama starring Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams, Billy Crudup and Abby Quinn premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and will be released in US theaters on August 9 via Sony Pictures Classics.
"The music for After the Wedding explores the sound of our suppressed past boiling up into our present, in a time and place not of our choosing. I chose the Indian Bansuri to portray the calm surface of the present, which is disrupted by the urgent and turbulent emergence of a string octet, initially wild and violent. As the story progresses, the two opposite musical poles find a meeting place of truth and honesty, where both, the songs of the small orchestra and Bansuri, coexist and create new music together."- Mychael Danna, composer.

ABOUT MYCHAEL DANNA
He is an Academy Award-winning film composer recognized for his evocative blending of non-western traditions with orchestral and electronic music. His highly awarded works include the Oscar and Golden Globe-winning score for Ang Lee's Life of Pi, following his collaborations with Lee on The Ice Storm and Ride with the Devil. Among his other awards are the Emmy for Outstanding Composition for the mini-series World Without End, the Frederick Loewe Award for Film Composing (2013), the World Soundtrack Awards for Film Composer of the Year (2013), Best Score of the Year (2013) and the Hollywood Film Award for Composer of the Year (2016).

ABOUT AFTER THE WEDDING
Isabel (Michelle Williams) has dedicated her life to working with the children in an orphanage in Calcutta. Theresa (Julianne Moore) is the multimillionaire head of a media company who lives with her handsome artist husband (Billy Crudup) and their two adorable twin boys in New York. When word comes to Isabel of a mysterious and generous grant for the financially struggling orphanage, she must travel to New York to meet the benefactor - Theresa - in person. When Isabel is spontaneously invited to Theresa's daughter's wedding, Isabel discovers a connection to Theresa that takes her on an unexpected journey into her own past.

Adapting Susanne Bier's Academy Award-nominated Danish film of the same title, writer/director Bart Freundlich has crafted an absorbing cinematic tale of secrets and intersecting lives. Both Williams and Moore give incredible performances and command the screen, adding nuance and depth to every scene they're in. By cleverly changing the gender of Bier's characters, Freundlich offers an elevated take on the film's melodrama-and tells a rich, emotional story about strong women, motherhood, and fate.
