New York, NY (Top40 Charts) AMC Network's Lodge 49 and Andras Jones Radio8Ball podcast share some creative DNA in that both shows revel in esoterica and mysticism for the fun of it. Thus, it's not surprising that these two shambolic enterprises would meet and appreciate each other on Radio8Ball's season 2 finale found here: https://www.radio8ball.com/2019/08/01/andras-jones-lodge-49-with-jim-gavin/
For instance, in the first of eight musical divinations (whereby a question is asked and a song is chosen at random as the answer - like picking a musical tarot card) from the Lodge 49 episode of Radio8Ball, Andras Jones asked the question, "When we use esoteric images for our art, does it have effects in the real world?" This question was answered by the song "Cartesian Shack". After listening, series creator Jim Gavin was blown away because there is a line in the upcoming season of their series about a "cartesian cage".
Now just try and think how many TV shows or albums you are aware of that explicitly reference the philosophy of René Descartes. Not many, right? Any?
The kismet of this kinship between Lodge 49 and Radio8Ball is on full display throughout the episode featuring questions about 2004 Saturn Ions, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, parenthood, and extra-terrestrial life in a terrific introduction to Andras Jones's new record. Radio8Ball's musical divination format and, what we think is the best new show on television, Lodge 49 (starting their second season on AMC on August 12th).
