New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Today, three-time GRAMMY Award-nominated and BRIT Award-winning multiplatinum singer-songwriter
James Bay surprised fans and released his new Oh My Messy Mind EP featuring new single and fan favorite song "Bad."
On the release of Oh My Messy Mind and "Bad" BAY said: "I regularly write things down in a stream of consciousness to empty my head. Oh My Messy Mind is a line I wrote on a particularly dark day a little while ago. It seemed to reflect a weight that I felt I was carrying at the time, and that comes back now and again. The songwriting that followed was me looking for a release. With Bad and the other songs on the EP I wanted to be honest about some of my own stories and other stories I was being pulled into. Bad is a break up song, it's just not my break up.
"Bad," which was produced by
Dan Wilson (Adele "
Someone Like You"), quickly became a fan favorite after BAY added it to his set list during his recent US headline tour this spring. The EP also features two additional new tracks "Break My
Heart Right" and the song "
Rescue" which was co-written by Ryan Tedder produced by Ariel Rechtshaid. Oh My Messy Mind also features hit single "Peer Pressure" [feat. Julia Michaels] which has already amassed nearly 30 million-plus Spotify streams and counting. Last month, the two made their network television debut of the song on The
Ellen DeGeneres Show.
To celebrate the arrival of Oh My Mess Mind, BAY has confirmed a string of live appearances and television performances for release week. On May 12th, he will tape an episode of American Public television's The Artists Den upcoming season (season 13) at a secret location in New York City. In addition, BAY will perform "Bad" for the first time on late night television on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (CBS) and again on TODAY (NBC) on May 16.

Square Garden Company on May 16.
