
BRENTWOOD, TN. (Sparrow Records) - The 36th Annual GMA
Music Awards will be held April 13 in Nashville, Tennessee, and later televised nationwide. In addition to co-hosts Steven Curtis Chapman, Rebecca St. James, and Smokie Norful, the Gospel
Music Association has named many other EMI CMG acts among the performers and presenters.
Now confirmed to perform during the Dove Awards ceremony are Bethany Dillon and Passion worship artists Chris Tomlin, David Crowder Band, and Matt Redman.
A testament to her emerging commercial and critical success, 16 year-old Bethany Dillon has three major nominations including Female Vocalist, New Artist, and Pop/Contemporary Album (BETHANY DILLON).
Chris Tomlin is nominated for Praise & Worship Album (ARRIVING). David Crowder Band received nods for Modern Rock Song ('Revolutionary Love') and Rock/Contemporary Album (THE LIME CD). Matt Redman received four nominations; three as a songwriter for Song of the Year ('Blessed Be Your Name'), Contemporary Gospel Song ('Undignified'), and Worship Song ('Blessed Be Your Name'). All of these artists are part of Passion's HYMNS ANCIENT & MODERN – LIVE SONGS OF OUR FAITH, nominated for Special Event Album and Recorded Music Packaging.
Presenters will include ever-creative music industry leader tobyMac and newcomer Matthew West.
This year, tobyMac is recognized in the Rap/Hip-Hop Album category (WELCOME TO DIVERSE CITY).
Debut singer/songwriter Matthew West, who spent two months at No 1 with his first radio single, 'More,' received an impressive five nominations including Song of the Year ('More'), New Artist, Pop/Contemporary Song ('More'), Pop/Contemporary Album (HAPPY), and Recorded Music Packaging (HAPPY).
The 36th Annual GMA Music Awards will be televised in syndication throughout the month of June.
