NEW YORK (Lava Records) - San
Diego rockers
Unwritten Law are taking it to the streets. The veteran rockers are hitting the road beginning March 22nd in support of their new album Here's To The Mourning, which debuted at No 51 on Billboard's Top 200, marking the band's highest career chart debut. The album has scanned over 75,000 in just 7 weeks, and is on track to be one of the band's biggest selling albums to date.
Considered by many to be the forefathers of the SoCal skate scene, Unwritten Law have morphed away from old school punk into a more cohesive rock sound, while continuing to remain one of the alternative format's core bands musically. The quintet's current single "Save Me," co-penned by the band and tunesmith Linda Perry, went to No 5 at alternative and is currently enjoying crossover play on many pop stations across the country. The single's controversial, cutting-edge, animated video is also enjoying heavy rotation on MTV2, Fuse and a variety of local channels, and has spawned an X-rated version which is popping up on sites such as My Space's Unwritten Law page.
Traditionally more of a fan's band, Unwritten Law's new disc Here's To the Mourning received praise across the board including Rolling Stone who describes the band as "turning out high-impact barnburners with just enough pop quirks to distinguish the band from its SoCal brethren," and Stuff Magazine who offer, "[Unwritten Law] get more powerful with each release (just like sperm.)"
Here's To the Mourning contains some of the best pure rock n' roll tracks on par with modern rock favorites Green Day and Velvet Revolver. The disc covers all the bases including tales of debauchery, abuse and breakups and is the quintet's official follow-up to their breakthrough album Elva which sold upwards of 400,000 albums. Unwritten Law is Scott Russo on vocals/guitar; Pat Kim on bass; Steve Morris on guitar; Rob Brewer on guitar; and newly added drummer Tony Palermo.
