New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The debut album from London-based experimental / psychedelic project, Steve's 9th Incarnation, is set for release DEC / JAN 19 with a single / video in NOV. The record was written and produced by Steve Head in Soho, London, and mastered by Christian Wright at Abbey Road Studios.
Head has worked with the likes of The Flowers of Hell (Earworm,
Shifty Disco), The Early Years (Beggars), and
Ghosts (Atlantic). Wright's CV includes works by Radiohead, Steve Reich, LCD Soundsystem, and Elvis, among others.
The album will be available on limited 140g 12" vinyl (featuring a comic book by Diana Naneva), deluxe CD, and the usual digital platforms. "Susi (O'Neill, clarinet) came up with the title while staying with me for a few months, which informed the vague narrative of a fictional "Steve's" journey through the record. Later that informed the concept for Diana's comic. The magnificence of her artwork is outstripped only by the obvious logic of 'Steve' being a faceless cat in a suit trying to forge a life in a world overseen by scary dogs."
The debut album marks 15 years of frontman Steve's creation and writing process in London. "I was preparing what was perhaps in hindsight an aspirational plan to set up a beachfront studio in Asia. I had a few songs kicking around and came up with the idea of making something to bookend the previous 15 years or so of making music in London, recording everyone who I'd worked with during that time. While I didn't quite achieve that it was great fun working with the people whose contributions made it to the final mixes." - Steve Head
The band has played with acts such as Sterling Roswell (Spacemen 3) and Patrick Lyons (Fat White Family / Optical Radio). Live, Steve's 9th Incarnation is a 3-piece featuring Steve Head, Al Grumble, and Elliott Brookes, often joined by guests including Mike Stone (Television Personalities), Sir Eddie Real (Alabama 3), and Susi (Dawn of the Replicants).
