NEW YORK (Mel Bay Records) - "Awakening", the first CD from the Corey Christiansen Group and Mel Bay Records, hit #16 today in its fifth week on the national jazz-radio chart. The title track, an original composition, consistently receives the most airplay from the recording.

Corey was a featured performer in the Horizon Air Special Guest Concert at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival last week, his third appearance at the event.

The 33-year-old musician made his third appearance at John Pisano's Guitar Night at Spazio in Los Angeles during the Winter NAMM convention in January. He also performed in the Eastman Guitars Special NAMM Concert.

Corey's 2005 schedule includes two weeks in Australia in March. In September he will make his third September appearance at the Jazz Cafe at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Closer to home in St. Louis, he'll be a featured performer in the Whitaker Music Festival and the Webster Groves Jazz Festival.

Corey has served as senior editor for Mel Bay Publications for almost five years. He's written more than 50 books and spends more than 20 weeks on the road each year for clinics and performances.
