Reservoir Signs J.I.D To A Worldwide Publishing Deal
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Reservoir announces the signing of rapper and songwriter Destin Route, p/k/a J.I.D to a worldwide publishing deal. The deal includes global rights to J.I.D's entire catalog, including his J. Cole-executive-produced debut studio album, The Never Story, and his forthcoming LP, DiCaprio 2, led by single "151 Rum," released last week.
"I'm happy to be a part of the Reservoir family and thankful for their belief in me and my team to give us this opportunity," said J.I.D.
"I've been a die-hard J.I.D fan since I first heard The Never Story," adds Reservoir SVP of Creative and A&R Spek who signed J.I.D to the roster. "I've known for a long time that he's one to watch and I'm not surprised that the industry is finally taking notice. I couldn't be more pleased to welcome him to the Reservoir family."

A protégé of J. Cole, J.I.D was featured in the XXL 2018 Freshman class, earning a spot on the magazine's coveted cover, which showcases rappers on the rise in the industry. Since signing with J. Cole's Dreamville Records imprint under Interscope last year, J.I.D released his debut studio album, The Never Story, which broke through the Billboard Top 200 chart and debuted at #14 on the Heatseeker Albums chart. The album also received critical acclaim, landing in the Top 10 on Rolling Stone's 40 Best Rap Albums of 2017, while spawning breakout single "Never."

Based in Atlanta, J.I.D has since become an in-demand collaborator, flexing his creative muscles with an array of talent. Earlier this year, J.I.D collaborated with the late Mac Miller to co-write "Self Care," the second single off Miller's album, Swimming, released last month, while Miller contributed to J.I.D's DiCaprio 2 before his passing. Additionally, J.I.D recently teamed up with rapper Denzel Curry on the track "SIRENS | Z1RENZ" off Curry's third studio album, TA13OO, Houston rapper Trill Sammy on "Paranoid" off Sammy's latest offering, No Sleep vol. 1, and indie-pop band Foster The People, on a remix of their cut "Pay The Man."

J.I.D, a name derived from what his grandmother called him as a jittery child, grew up East Atlanta listening to his parents' vinyl collection of classic funk and soul records. Before signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records, J.I.D self-released two mixtapes, Route of All Evil and Para Tu, plus an EP, DiCaprio, the prequel to DiCaprio 2. In addition, he dropped series of compilation albums with Atlanta rap collective Spillage Village, Bears Like This, Bears Like This Too, and Bears Like This Too Much.

"J.I.D is a standout in today's hip-hop scene," adds Reservoir SVP of A&R and Catalog Development Faith Newman, who will also be working closely with J.I.D. "He is a great addition to the Reservoir roster which includes the best of the best talent from Atlanta including Migos' Offset and Takeoff, 2 Chainz, Young Thug, XL, and Trouble."
