Global Citizen Festival To Air On MSNBC
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) MSNBC anchors Chris Hayes, Ari Melber and Joy Reid, joined by NBC News and MSNBC correspondents Savannah Sellers and Jacob Soboroff, will host the MSNBC broadcast of the 2018 GLOBAL CITIZEN FESTIVAL on Saturday, September 29th. Live MSNBC coverage will begin at 3 pm ET and will include behind-the-scenes access to the festival and interviews with performers, influencers, dignitaries and change-makers. This marks the fifth consecutive year that MSNBC & Comcast NBCUniversal will act as the premier media sponsor of the festival and will air a live simulcast on MSNBC and MSNBC.com.

The 2018 Global Citizen Festival will take place on the Great Lawn in Central Park, NY and boasts a top-tier musical line-up including performances by The Weeknd, Janet Jackson, Shawn Mendes, Cardi B, Janelle MonĂ¡e, plus special guest John Legend. The advocacy-driven event will be hosted on stage by Deborra-Lee Furness and Hugh Jackman.

As a part of an effort to support Global Citizen's mission of providing access to safe drinking water to people around the world, MSNBC and Comcast-NBCUniversal are making free, fresh drinking water and commemorative reusable water bottles available to Global Citizen Festival attendees.

The event will serve as a platform from which tens of thousands of Global Citizens around the world will demand that world leaders fulfill their obligation to achieve the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development and end extreme poverty by 2030. Building off momentum by activists from across the globe, Global Citizens will stand together to call on leaders to uphold their responsibilities towards improving the quality of health care and nutrition that women receive during adolescence and childbirth, ensuring girls do not marry before they are ready, reducing the amount of plastic used and discarded worldwide, ending the criminalization of poverty, providing quality education for all, and ensuring the United States fully funds its foreign aid budget.
Global Citizen Festival on MSNBC is sponsored by Citi, the official presenting partner of Global Citizen Festival in New York City.
