sUKonthis - British Showcases At SXSW 2005 Confirmed

NEW YORK (SXSW) The UK music industry trade group British Phonographic Industry (BPI) has announced the schedule and lineups for its SXSW 2005 showcase and afternoon BBQ events, as well as MTV2's UK music showcase, all under the sUKonthis banner. The invite-only BBQ Reception will take place the afternoon of Thursday, March 17, in Austin's Brush Square Park; The UK Showcase, co-sponsored by BBC Radio 2 and open to all SXSW badge and wristband holders, will be the evening of Friday, March 18 at Buffalo Billiards. MTV2's show will be the evening of Saturday, March 19 at La Zona Rosa. Full lineups and schedule below.

After hugely successful SXSW showcases with The Darkness (2003), The Futureheads and Jamie Cullum (2004), among others, the BPI has planned its largest SXSW presence ever for 2005, co-sponsoring events presented by MTV2 and BBC Radio 1 as well as its own showcase and reception. Artists confirmed to participate include The Music, Idlewild, Embrace, Dogs Die In Hot Cars, The Go! Team and many others; see below for further information on all sUKonthis 2005 artists.

A new dedicated website at www.sukonthis.co.uk, plus a limited edition twelve-track 12" vinyl comprising exclusive BBC archive material and hotly tipped British showcasing acts (including SXSW keynote speaker Robert Plant) will also be used to market the British presence at the event.

One further sUKonthis showcase, planned in conjunction with BBC Radio 1, is also planned for SXSW 2005; details and lineup will be announced in early March.
