Soul-Pop Trio Charlie Faye & The Fayettes Announce New Single "I Don't Need No Baby" Today
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Austin-based soul-pop trio Charlie Faye & The Fayettes announce the upcoming release of their brand new single "I Don't Need No Baby" on Thursday, Sept. 6. Led by frontwoman Charlie Faye and backed by vocalists BettySoo and Akina Adderley, the band has made a name for themselves as the "modern-day '60s girl group" of the Live Music Capital of the World. Performing original music reminiscent of the Ronettes or Supremes, they put a modern twist on the classic Motown sound, emerging with a style all their own. There will be an official single release show on Thursday, Sept. 6 at Antone's, located at 305 E. Fifth St, Austin, Texas 78701. Doors are at 9 p.m. and Charlie Faye & The Fayettes hit the stage at 9:30 p.m.Tickets are $10 and can be purchased here. For more information on Charlie Faye & The Fayettes, please see here.

They might be '60s influenced, but with "I Don't Need No Baby," Charlie Faye & the Fayettes answer the Ronettes' classic, "Be My Baby," from the viewpoint of today's independent, self-determined woman. "I don't have time to waste imagining 'I do,'" Faye sings, declaring she's better off without a man before warning a sweet-talking guy, "Get a clue."
"I wanted to bring some more modern sounds into this record, and also take a fresh approach to this kind of love song," says Charlie Faye. "It's fun to take a classic theme like this and turn it on its head with more of a modern feminine perspective."

Charlie Faye & The Fayettes craft smart soul-pop that merges the swinging, swaying sound of the '60s girl groups with a vibe that's so current, they're dancing to the forefront of the retro-revival movement. Their debut album rose into the top 20 on the Americana radio chart and garnered high praise from the press. "It's impossible not to be enchanted by one of this year's freshest, most delightful and all around grooviest releases," says American Songwriter.

Often described as a "modern-day '60s girl group" reminiscent of the Ronettes or Supremes, the trio's original songs, Motown-worthy dance moves and tight backing band make their live shows an exciting and unforgettable experience. Their shared height (they're all within a half-inch of 5-foot-1-inch) and distinct ethnicities (Jewish, Korean-American and African-American) just adds cute to their considerable charms. But it's the songs - the great, classic-sounding songs with catchy melodies and intelligent lyrics - that set Charlie Faye & The Fayettes apart from the rest. "Musically, the group hearkens to Motown, Spector or the Brill Building," says The Huffington Post, "Charlie is emerging as a budding Carole King, and the songs are good enough to rate comparison to Goffin & King or Mann & Weil."

Due to the strength of these songs, the band has recently had a series of great TV placements, including two songs on the CW's Riverdale, and others on Seal Teamand Girlboss.
"In a world of new soul singers who actually get what they're talking about, enter the name of Charlie Faye and her unbeatable Fayettes to that list," says Bill Bentley, The Morton Report. "They could go all the way."

The trio is currently working on a new album set to be released in 2019 and are releasing the first single from the record, "I Don't Need No Baby," on Thursday, Sept. 6. For more information on Charlie Faye & The Fayettes, please see www.charliefayeandthefayettes.com.
