BBC Music Heads To The Great Escape Festival
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) BBC Music are once again heading to The Great Escape (TGE) continuing its partnership with the annual festival in Brighton between May 17-19, taking with them BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, BBC Radio 6 Music and BBC Music Introducing.

BBC Music will be providing the best in new music, putting on live showcases in the beautiful Paganini ballroom with 6 Music Recommends kicking off the musical spectacular on Thursday 17 May, starting at 7.15pm with:

Australian band Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever Johannesburg-via-Doncaster solo artist Skinny Pelembe The glorious mystery that is Whyte Horses Manchester musical explorers Virginia Wing Amsterdam-born singer Pip Blom Known for its commitment to new and unsigned music, BBC Music Introducing will also be hosting their showcase on Friday 18 May starting at 7.30pm with:

21 year-old singer songwriter Ten Tonnes Also known as the 'Hot Shot' AlicaƬ Harley Scottish-based artist ONR Leicester-born R&B act Mahalia BBC Radio 1Xtra will be bringing high energy to Jubilee Square where DJ Target will be broadcasting live on Thursday night (7-9pm) and BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Steve Lamacq takes over the reins on Friday (4-7pm). Both shows will have live music and guests.

As well as providing some of the biggest new names in the UK and some of the best taste makers in the music industry, two special BBC Music In Conversations will take place in Brighton's The Old Courtroom:

BBC Radio 1's Huw Stephens chats to Richard Russell, recording artist, producer and co-founder of XL Recordings (Thursday 17 May, 5.30-6.30pm). BBC Radio 1Xtra's grime ambassador Sir Spyro chats to Mobo nominee Novelist, who has just self-released his debut album (Friday 18 May, 5.30-6.30pm). These BBC Music In Conversations will be open to all delegates and festival goers.

The BBC Music News team will be out on the streets of Brighton and across the TGE venues, soaking up the atmosphere, chatting to artists and picking up all the latest news across the thought-provoking topics at the convention and reporting on what's hot and what's not.

For the first time, BBC Music Introducing will take the four bands it's showcasing at The Great Escape on a UK tour which ends on stage at The Biggest Weekend.

After the Great Escape, the tour will split into two legs and visit several grassroots venues across the UK. One leg of the tour will feature Mahalia and AlicaƬ Harley who will play Sheffield (Monday 21 May, Leadmill), Oxford (Tuesday 22May, Bullingdon) and Newcastle (Wednesday 23 May, The Cluny) and Ten Tonnes and ONR will play Leeds (Monday 21 May, Headrow House), Bristol (Tuesday 22 May, Fiddlers) and Reading (Wednesday 23 May, Purple Turtle). Each night will feature support from a new local artist working in conjunction with Local BBC Music Introducing shows.
