Indie Soul-Pop Ballad "Miss The Days" From NYC's Sam Hammerman
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Enveloping you in a layer of nostalgic warmth, indie-soul singer-songwriter Sam Hammerman's new single "Miss the Days" will have you reminiscing fondly, with a smile on your face. With a vintage jazz vibe, soulful lyrics, and a irresistible melody, Hammerman's smooth vocal performance adds the final hook to make this track an instant hit. PopMatters premiered the track earlier this week, calling Hammerman a "contemporary crooner," with the track providing a "breezy and soulful look back on better days."

""Miss the Days" was born right around the time I was transitioning from living in my hometown of Boston to NYC, in the summer of 2015," shared Hammerman. "I was feeling very nostalgic at the time but also very alive. Lyrically, you can look at it from several angles: it speaks to longing for times of innocence and simplicity both in the context of a relationship and in a broader sense, before life gets overtaken with clutter and chaos. And ultimately, it suggests that joy and freedom can be found in the midst of it all."

Hammerman collaborated with the talented Luke Tozour (Jamie Cullum, Katy Perry) for the production of the track. "While the song has a classic flavor, the production process is quite modern; from us working remotely together, and very much utilizing the wonders of technology and Pro-Tools," said Hammerman. He used the opportunity as a learning experience, honing his production skills and building tracks from the ground up, by writing and performing all instruments, with the exception of drums (played by friend Andrew Marshall). "I also started to build a home studio where I recorded about half the tracks. However, Luke's role in this was invaluable, we collaborated on everything from pre-production, arrangement and song structure, to engineering and sonic choices, and so many other important roles. It was really fun playing around with the different parts, sort of putting together all the different puzzle pieces until they all fit just right."

Hammerman provided thanks to many others for their involvement in the track; Phil Duke at Continental Studios assisted with recording, Nick Squillante mixed the track and legendary Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound mastered it. "Miss the Days" is available now for streaming and purchase on Spotify, iTunes, Bandcamp and all major digital retail platforms. It follows his last single "Perfect Diamond" (2016), and first EP Liberation. NYC fans can stay tuned for upcoming summer show dates, to be announced shortly.
