Winans initially made his grand introduction to pop music lovers on stage and over radio airwaves along side his sister, CeCe. Together they recorded albums under a number of imprints including Capitol, Motown Records and Atlantic. The two have a slew of hit records to their credit including 'Heaven,' 'I'm Lost Without You,' 'I'll Take You There,' 'For Always,' and their Number 1 hit single 'I'll Take You There.' The extraordinary duo received prestigious recognition by a number of music industry organizations achieving gold and platinum selling status. They are Grammy winners four times over; they have been recognized by the GMA with ten Dove awards; and have celebrated sales in the millions.
BeBe and CeCe moved on to pursue solo careers. Since his departure from the duet, BeBe has worked behind the scenes to produce projects for Gladys Knight, Bobby Brown and Stephanie Mills. One such project earned BeBe yet another Grammy for his collaboration on the movie soundtrack to The Bodyguard starring Whitney Houston.
An international entertainer, BeBe has performed for audiences around the world on tour and on Broadway (Your Arm's Too Short To Box With God and Civil War). Not only is he is an actor on film and theater and he is a radio personality. BeBe recently launched a syndicated radio show (BeBe Winans' Radio Show) which is currently broadcast in all Top 50 US Markets.
On the heels of the breakout success of his most recent best-selling holiday album entitled My Christmas Prayer (which topped four separate Billboard catalog charts—December, 2004), BeBe Winans will release his first studio album in four years. BeBe will introduce Dream (TMG/Hiddenbeach/Sony).
The album is scheduled for release on February 22. The first single released from the album, "Safe from Harm," (co-produced and arranged with longtime friend and guitarist, Tom Hemby) was the number one most added song at Gospel Radio this week. Dream also features as its centerpiece "I Have a Dream," a moving number comprised entirely of text from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s notorious speech—'I Have A Dream.'
'We welcome the extraordinary opportunity to work with BeBe to launch his first North American tour in three years. Plans are now underway to kick-off the tour in mid March and we anticipate a positive response,' adds Bob Kinkead, responsible agent and the agency VP.
In support of the new album, BeBe will begin his 2005 tour in March and perform a select number of dates with Gladys Knight throughout the year.
