More Than Just Music
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Now more than ever, mental illness is something that needs to be talked about. There's nothing wrong with reaching out for help or asking someone to lend a compassionate ear and just listen. So many people use music as a coping mechanism during these dark times and Visitors sees their music as an outlet to bring attention to these societal "taboo" topics. It's obvious on their Formant Records debut EP, "Vortices: A Foreward," and the companion comic book, "Axis B" which were both released today.

The record is a concept abum which they self describe as showcasing their "post-something/experimental-heavy-something-else' difficult to nail down genre." The EP is just the beginning of this complex journey as Vocalist/Guitarist Ian Cooperstein shared, "The story explores the college age onset of a particular group of mental illnesses that tend to disproportionately affect artists, creatives, and musicians. Adding to the complexity of that main narrative, the protagonist also becomes triggered by the fear resulting from the rapid paradigm shift in American culture during the years following 9/11."

Visitors wanted to add a special element to this record, so they released a comic book that accompanies the music. Cooperstein explained, "The energetic and somewhat frantically optimistic music of the 'Vortices' EP takes several turns in color as it snakes down the spiraling story line, which is visually represented in the comic book."

"Vortices: A Foreward" is available now on all digital platforms along with physical copies and merch on Bandcamp.
