Friday Night Sound Waves Celebrating Earth Day With Music
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Friday Night Sound Waves, funded by Fort Lauderdale Beach Business Improvement District, is turning up the volume in celebration of Earth Day 2017. With Spred the Dub performing live, and several local nonprofits activating an on-site eco-village, concertgoers are in for an unforgettable Earth Day weekend kickoff on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Fort Lauderdale Beach Hub (A1A and Las Olas Boulevard).

"What better place to celebrate our planet than where the ocean meets the sand?" said Friday Night Sound Waves producer Arianne Glassman. "Fort Lauderdale Beach is such a sacred and important part of our community, and we hope locals and visitors of all ages will come out to enjoy the sound of live music with the waves crashing in the background."

On the heels of a United Kingdom tour, being named Best Reggae Band by the New Times Broward-Palm Beach in 2016, and fresh from the studio preparing to release their third album, South Florida's favorite good-time reggae band, Spred the Dub, will be performing live. Having played venues all across the country, the six-member group, comprised of singers, songwriters, instrumentalists, and producers, is notorious for mixing elements of soul, R&B and funk combined with ska, reggae and rocksteady.

"In addition to the cool, eclectic sounds of Spred the Dub, we are pleased to be partnering with several local nonprofits that are all working to promote environmentally conscious lifestyles and volunteer opportunities," said Glassman.

Among the local nonprofits partnering with the Beach BID are HandsOn Broward, The Fort Lauderdale Beach Sweep, Entercom's 1THING Initiative, Kids Ecology Corps and Sunrise Paddleboards with their Trashy Tuesday waterway cleanup. HandsOn Broward mobilizes thousands of volunteers each year in meaningful hands-on projects that make a difference for local communities and the environment. The Fort Lauderdale Beach Sweep organizes a monthly beach cleanup in partnership with the City of Fort Lauderdale and Beach Sweep America Inc., and 1THING promotes positive environmental practices with business partners and radio listeners.

"Understanding the impact of our ecological footprint is the first step to creating positive change for our planet," said Kristina DaSilva, HandsOn Broward's Chief Operating Officer. "HandsOn Broward is excited to be kicking off Earth Day on Fort Lauderdale Beach with so many others who are dedicated to preserving our natural resources through education and conservation efforts."

Friday Night Sound Waves is a free 36-week live music series that runs March through November. Locals and visitors are encouraged to slide off their shoes and slip into the weekend to enjoy local and regional musical talent perform Friday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Beach Hub on the corner of Las Olas Boulevard and A1A.
